Welcome to the Advocate's Mic

Welcome to the Advocate's Mic! The idea for the platform came to fruition during the COVID 19 pandemic when I had a lot of time to reflect on my career. I noticed how so many organizations wanted to make changes to their hiring and retention initiatives. As a legal recruiter, I saw it first hand and my recent connection, Jacob Levy so properly phrased it, I wanted to bring back the ‘human’ in human resources.
I searched introspectively about how I might make shifts to my career (one of them was the possibility of career coaching). I learned from that course that I would make a greater impact addressing employers directly about how to make changes for a more inclusive workplace rather than work with individuals directly. I knew a lot of people in the corporate world given my reach after fifteen years at one of the top law firms and five years as a legal recruiter. I would make a greater impact addressing employers directly about how to make changes for a more inclusive workplace. Why not ask the advocates themselves? They are the best experts. And so the idea of the Advocate’s Mic came to be.
Tangentially, while I was in lockdown, I would get my energy from my neighbors and the people I met along my walks. I noticed the connection of how I brought the insights and personalities to my ‘day job’. I learned so much from those interactions and saw such incredible talent (I am a Recruiter mind you) that I wanted to amplify their voices as well.
The Advocate’s Mic is a journey for me and a learning process. I’m thrilled to have the opportunity to share with you the voices that will create a kinder and more accepting society. Thanks for coming along for the ride!
